Chukcha In Exile


Chukcha In Exile unites exhibition curation and the provision of professional support and management for artists. This innovative iteration of traditional gallery representation connects with the new realities of creative practice, setting an original standard for artists’ support and exhibition programming.

Chukcha In Exile provides artist’s management service for contemporary emerging and established artists with ongoing support and guidance. Equipping artists with the necessary professional foundation and setting them apart from contemporaries through branding, marketing, exhibitions and sales. Chukcha In Exile provides its represented artists with the resources and opportunities to distinguish their careers and achievements. 


Irina Asriian, director of Chukcha In Exile has been working within the Melbourne visual arts sector since 2005.

Irina was born in Siberia, Russia and migrated to Melbourne with her family in 1992. Having always held a strong passion for arts, literature, travel and history she felt destined for the role of curator. Irina strongly identifies with her Russian culture and background, her migrant status and cultural differences inform much of her curatorial endeavours and projects.

With a Masters of Curatorship from Melbourne University in 2012, as well as Graduate Certificate in Art History and Bachelors in Communications, Irina has been largely a freelance curator with a wide variety of support roles in the Melbourne arts community. Past professional responsibilities have included member of advisory committee with Strange Neighbour Gallery in 2014-15; Wednesday Project curatorial committee member, at Guildford Lane Gallery 2008-09; and organisational involvement with Linden’s famous Post card show in 2005 amongst others.

Most recently Irina was with Anita Traverso Gallery where she worked closely with the director to curate several gallery exhibitions before commencing independent curation and artists management as Chukcha In Exile.
